Following the Mission President

Hey guys how´s it going?

Sounds like everyone had a pretty good week! Thats great to hear it makes me happy! It has been getting really really hot here... haha. For anyone who doesn´t know San Juan is a desert basically so yeah thats been fun. We had a ´´counsel´´ with the Mission President this week President Avila and it was incredible as always! He is a man full of the Spirit and directs the mission according to the Lords will. He made some inspired changes this week. In this part of Argentina there is something called a ciesta between about 1p.m. to 5 p.m. where all the shops and restaurants close and life stops for a couple hours. Most people take a long nap to prepare for the rest of the day. It´s pretty ridiculous but that is how the people are here. Usually as missionaries we eat lunch with a family and then go back to the apartment for about an hour and do some additional study or other things we have to do and leave again at about 4. He changed that so that after lunch we keep going until the day is done. It was an inspired change and we have seen the miracles come from it this week. The Elders and Sisters in the mission worked their hearts out and we saw the fruits of our labors. The Lord blesses us even more when he sees that we are giving all of our hearts.

President Avila quoted the scriptures when a man comes up to Jesus and says, ´´Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great acommandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the alaw and the prophets. (Matthew 22:36-40)

I have a testimony that we have to follow this commandment and that by wearing ourselves out in the service of others is the only real way we can love God with ALL not just part. I know that the Gospel is true. I am seeing incredible things everyday and it brings me such joy! I love you all have a great week!

Love,
Elder Passantino
